The International White Cane Day 2016 to be held on 15 October 2016, 9am to 1pm at CHIJMES Lawn is a collaboration between the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped (“SAVH”) and Perennial Real Estate Holdings Limited (“Perennial”).
The International White Cane Day is celebrated worldwide on 15 October with the mission to educate the world about blindness and how the visually impaired can live and work independently while giving back to their communities, to celebrate the abilities and successes achieved by blind people in a sighted world and to honour the many contributions made by the visually impaired.
For the first time in Singapore, the celebration will be brought into the city to create greater public awareness, promote the building of an inclusive community, and raise funds for SAVH.
The celebration at CHIJMES Lawn will host a fun-filled carnival with games and food booths, as well as unique experiences including mobile massage and dining-in-the-dark. Attendees will also be treated to a variety of programmes by blind and sighted performers.
