SAVH Flag Day 2023

Greetings from the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped (SAVH)!

We truly appreciate your past and continuous support of our Flag Day events over the years!

Our coming Flag Day is scheduled on Saturday, 9 September 2023 from 8 am to 3 pm. We are pleased to inform we will be adopting the buddy system, whereby sighted volunteers can opt to be paired with our visually impaired clients, therefore making Flag Day an even more exciting and meaningful affair.

We are happy to announce that there are 3 Reporting Centres for your selection and convenience: HQ at SAVH premises (47 Toa Payoh Rise), Jurong East MRT Station and Tampines MRT Station; and 3 shifts for you to choose from namely, Shift 1 from 8 am to 12 noon, Shift 2 from 11 am to 3 pm and Shift 3 from 8 am to 3 pm.

The objectives of our Flag Day 2023 are two-fold; to raise much needed funds for supporting programmes for our clients, and to create awareness of our mission & vision statements while inspiring the spirit of volunteerism and inclusiveness in our community.

We sincerely hope that you will be able to join us for this event while embracing our motto to ‘Help the Visually Handicapped Help Themselves’. To join our Flag Day, please send an e-mail to volunteer@savh.org.sg.

Blind Community Day 2022

SAVH Blind Community Day

2022 marks another New Year for the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped (SAVH) as we reflect upon our Association’s humble beginnings and challenging journey, how far we have progressed and what holds for the future of our visually handicapped community in the amidst of the current seem-never-ending Covid19 pandemic.

All of us are facing different degrees of arduous challenges during the pandemic, be it work-related, family-related, personal well-being or mental health. More so for the visually impaired and many have suffered enormous losses of income, uncertainty of daily life and routines etc.

We would like to share our accomplishments with those who have journeyed with us along the way as well as to cultivate new patronage and supporters to jointly raise funds which will enable us to improve and expand our existing programmes and services and initiate new ones to cater to the needs of an increasing community of visual impaired including an increasing number of aged visually handicapped as the population ages.

SAVH is holding a Blind Community Day hybrid event. The aim of staging the event is to raise awareness of the visually impaired as well as raise funds for SAVH’s operations and services.
