SAVH offers comprehensive skills training programs tailored to the needs of visually handicapped individuals. These courses equip participants with practical competencies and valuable knowledge, empowering them to pursue employment opportunities, enhance their personal development, and build confidence. Through these initiatives, SAVH aims to support greater independence and facilitate meaningful integration into the community.

Types of Skills Training

IT Skills

Computer literacy courses at SAVH are conducted by experienced staff, supported by volunteers, and are generally delivered on a one-to-one basis to visually handicapped clients. In addition to learning fundamental computer skills, participants gain proficiency in using the Internet, Microsoft Office applications, and social media platforms.

Massage Training

Established in 1992, this training provides clients with comprehensive training in a range of massage techniques, including Hand & Foot Reflexology, Head and Shoulder Massage, Full Body Massage without Oil, and Sports Massage. Lessons are conducted by qualified instructors from reputable international massage agencies. Upon successful completion of the courses and demonstration of competency, participants are awarded the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) certification.

Our Social Enterprises

Mobile Massage Team

To facilitate the provision of massage services by a group of qualified, VH masseurs at SAVH or external venues such as schools, corporate offices as well as at nationally organised events.

Dining In the Dark

To raise public awareness of the challenges that persons with vision impairment face in their daily activities. A sighted person can experience what it is like to be blind without the use of blindfolds.

Touch Art Studio

Introduced to the clients to equip them with skills to produce different handicraft items. It provides the clients a platform to showcase their talent, opportunities to socialise with others and employment opportunities through making the handicraft items.

SAVH also works with third-party employers who believe as we do in the ability of our visually impaired to be productive members of society and are willing to give them a chance at employment. We welcome all prospective employers to get in touch with us to explore the possibilities.
