Mr Andrew Chew Hew Jeow has over 25 years of experience in public relations, community engagement, media and corporate communication. He brings along his extensive knowledge and experience from the private sector to the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped (SAVH), where he launched an elderly activity centre, developed plans to modernise braille production facilities, reviewed antiquated processes, introduced measures to streamline processes for greater transparency and improve services delivery to enhance clients’ satisfaction. He is also a key member in pathing the way for the association in its transformation journey.

Mr Chew has been active in advocating and improving the quality of life for the vision impaired. He was recognised with a Meritorious Service Award at The Eye and Vision Health Awards by the National Congress of Optometrists & Opticians for active advocacy and voluntary contribution in the blindness community. He was elected as the first Chairperson of the Tenpin Bowling Technical Sub-Committee of the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA), and gained international accreditation for tenpin bowling as a blind-sports.

As pioneering Director of Guide Dogs Association of the Blind, he launched training programs and delivery services, secured 3 overseas partnerships and developed 5-year blueprint for eventual self-sufficiency. In recognition of his outstanding contribution in cementing its long-term partnership with the local guide dog movement in Singapore, he was awarded Special Commendation from Guide Dogs Victoria (Australia) in 2014.

During the COVID pandemic, he played an instrumental role in establishing K9Assistance (Limited), a charity founded in 2020 to promote the acceptance and use of assistance dogs for the disabled in Singapore. Being the founding Director of K9Assistance, he is committed to improve the lives of the disabled through assistance dogs to help them lead a dignified and barrier-free life, thus making Singapore a more inclusive society for all.

Election Statement

Hello members, my name is Andrew Chew Hew Jeow. I have been serving SAVH ever since my good friend President Michael Tan, asked this blind man to return to help his own association. During my time as the HR sub-committee Chairman, I selected and recruited the key leadership positions like the CEO, Director of Client Services and HR Manager. I also took pains to review antiquated processes to bring SAVH up to date, improve operational excellence, pathing the way for our association to continue its transformation journey.  

A recent survey we did show low utilization of SAVH’s services and diminishing clients’ satisfaction. This I believe is unacceptable and more needs to be done to realize our common vision which is to promote the needs, interests, and aspirations of the vision impaired. I would like your support to allow me to continue my work with the management to maximize our resources, improve clients’ satisfaction and utilization of SAVH’s services, and to make SAVH an association you can be proud of.
